Berneda “Neda” (Thompson) Becker, age 91, of Elysian, formerly Minnesota Lake, MN, died Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the Mapleton Community Home. Funeral Services will be private with family. Public visitation will be Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from 4-7 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN. Interment will be in Danville Township Cemetery, rural Blue Earth Co., MN. Face masks must be worn and social distancing will be observed at the funeral home.
Neda was born January 12, 1929, in Wells, MN, the daughter of Alvin “Allie” and Esther (Dickman) Noer. She graduated from Minnesota Lake High School. She was united in marriage to Donald A. Thompson April 21, 1948 in Mankato, MN. To this union 5 children were born, Lonnie, Donita, Tom, Jon, and Terriane.
After Donald’s death, Neda married Raymond D. Becker in 1992 and to this union she gained 3 step-children: LaRae, Bob, and Brent. Neda and Raymond moved to Elysian, MN. The couple enjoyed traveling and visiting family.
Neda was active in many different organizations and was a member of Peace Church. She belonged to the Elysian Legion Auxiliary and the Minnesota Lake Legion Auxiliary, the Minnesota Lake Birthday Club, Make it Club, and the Red Hats of Elysian. She loved to read and loved the winters that she and Raymond spent in South Padre Island, Texas. Neda loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She enjoyed time spent with all of her old friends as well as making new ones.
Neda is survived by her husband Raymond Becker of Elysian; 4 children: Lonnie (Patti) Thompson of Crown Point, Indiana, Donita (Robert) Henry of Lexington, Kentucky, Jon Thompson of Mankato, MN, and Terriane (Charlie) Traynor of Minnesota Lake, Minnesota; 3 step-children: LaRae (Jim) Bisel of Long Lake, Minnesota, Bob (Kathy) Becker of Minnesota Lake, Minnesota, and Brent (Malia) Becker of Bay Minette, Alabama; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Donald (1986); son, Tom; sister, Correan; sisters-in-law: Carol, Darlene, Helen, June; brothers-in-law, Lloyd, Cy, Doyne, and Jesse.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Mapleton Community Home for all the wonderful care the past seven years, as well as the Mayo Hospice Staff for the wonderful care they provided.
