Margaret Marie was born June 24, 1935 in Waterville, MN, the daughter of Andrew and Marie (Hager) Hollinger. Margaret met Raymond Stevermer at the Kato Ballroom, they were a wonderful dancing couple, and on November 23, 1963 they were married— they enjoyed 46 years together. Ray always reaffirmed his thought to his children that their mother was the prettiest girl in the room.
Margaret graduated from Waterville High School in 1953. Margaret worked at E.F. Johnson’s and went on to attend and graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing as an LPN. She was a longtime faithful member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton, and MCCW. Margaret always stayed busy, subbing in the lunch room at USC, helping with 4-H for many years, and being part of “Project Group” of Faribault Extension and Outreach. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and loved watching her kids’ and grandkids’ sports activities. She was known for her baking and cooking, volunteering, her love of flowers and gardening, her talent for taking care of sick children, and her cleaning skills!
She is survived by 6 children: Julie (Patrick) McGonegle of Urbandale, IA, Jacqueline (Kurt) Stevermer-Bakken of Oronoco, Charles (Rebecca) Stevermer of Easton, Joan (Ken Satre) Stevermer of Plymouth, Robert (Brenda) Stevermer of Mankato, Sheldon (Kim) Stevermer of Easton; 17 grandchildren: Jack, Laurel; Joshua, Jared; Trent, Jacob, Mason, Riley; Will (Megan), Wyatt, Maria; Peyton, Bennett, Olivia; Victoria, Piper and Beau; sister Dorothy Kuball of Faribault, MN; in-laws: Cathy Stevermer of Blue Earth, MN, Dr. Emmett (Mary) Stevermer of Ames, IA, Sister Mary Owen of Mankato, Irene Mikkalson of Burnsville, Alice (Lawrence) Killion of Mankato, many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray; brother James Hollinger; brothers-in-law: Jerry Mikkelson, Luverne Kuball, Bill Stevermer and Tom Stevermer.
Dennis & I send our sympathy to the entire family. We will always remember her quiet yet supportive presence at USC sporting events. She was a very special lady!
