Glorian Dorothy was born April 8, 1940. The daughter of Arthur and Mildred (Lilienthal) Bentz, she grew up on a dairy farm just north of Gibbon, MN. The oldest of six siblings, she learned from an early age the chores and responsibilities of keeping a household running smoothly. Glorian excelled in 4-H and her home ec classes due to her love of sewing and baking, canning and gardening, all of which became lifelong hobbies. She graduated from Gibbon High School in 1958. On September 7, 1963 she married her high school classmate and love of her life, Ronald Sander, also from Gibbon, MN. Glorian worked in banking until they started their family and she then became a full-time mother and household coordinator. Together they raised five children living in Jackson, New Ulm, and Mankato before settling in Bricelyn, MN, in 1975 where they made their home for more than 45 years.
Ron and Glorian lived a busy life keeping up with their children. They never missed a game or performance and were very active in the high school booster club, community club, and Bricelyn Lutheran Church where Glorian served as the WELCA treasurer for many years. An excellent cook, Glorian enjoyed feeding her family and they have a long list of favorites including buttermilk waffles, chicken and dumpling soup, and oatmeal raisin cookies. She loved to play bridge and watch the birds outside her windows, a hobby she passed on to her children. She was also an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
One of Glorian’s greatest joys was being a grandmother. She cherished each and every one of her thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and loved to share stories about their endeavors and accomplishments. She was very proud of her family.
When Ron passed away in 2012 Glorian was determined to live the life she had pictured for both of them. She continued to garden and plant flowers, cheer on the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow up. In the down times, she decided to pick up knitting again to keep her hands busy. She made beautiful blankets for her family, which now have become treasured heirlooms that they will use to wrap themselves in her love. Her faith that Ron and she would someday be reunited never wavered, and her eyes held steady on Jesus to help her through her grief.
Glorian was a beautiful soul and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by many.
She is survived by her children: Michele (Mike) Beyer of Bricelyn, MN, Kimberly (Mike) Gormley of Bricelyn, MN, Doug (Lisa) Sander of St. Michael, MN, Nicole (Steve) Kapplinger of Jackson, MN, and Kristin (DJ) Bullerman of Wells, MN; grandchildren: Emma & Matthew Beyer; Brianna (Mike) Linder, Mikayla (Colin) Wegner, Myah Gormley; Jack & Grace Sander; Kyle, Kendell & Cole Kapplinger; AJ, Blake & Drew Bullerman; great-grandchildren: Will and Kipp Linder; siblings: Marilyn (Lance) Briard of Gaylord, Carolyn (Gregory) Johnson of Winthrop, Richard (Faye) Bentz of Gibbon, Bradley (Karen) Bentz of Hamburg, Donovan (Sue) Bentz of Gibbon, along with many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ronald (2012).
