Marjorie Anna Swehla, age 88, of Alden, MN, died of natural causes Monday, Feb. 8, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. A Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021at 10:30 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, MN.  Visitation will be Friday, February 12, 2021 from 4-7 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Alden Cemetery.  Face masks and social distancing will be observed at the funeral home and the church. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is entrusted with arrangements.       Marjorie was born Dec. 8, 1932 on the family farm in Carltson Twp., Freeborn Co., MN, the only daughter of four children born to Harold and Erna (Mickelsen) Skov in Alden, MN.  Marjorie graduated from Alden High School in 1950.  She was united in marriage to Merlyn Harold Swehla on June 6, 1954 in Alden, MN.  The couple had celebrated 53 years of marriage before his death in 2007. Marjorie took care of the house and the kids.  She was a long-time member of the Alden United Methodist Church. Marjorie enjoyed crocheting, and going to garage sales, she was called the “Garage Sale Queen” by her family. Family was very important to Marjorie and she loved visiting with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

     Marjorie is survived by three children: Wendy (husband Bruce) Niebuhr of Alden, Cynthia (husband Terry) Schroeder of Wells, Merlyn (Lori) Swehla Jr. of Alden; 11 grandchildren:  Miranda (Tim) Sailor, Conger; Aurora (Jeremy) Grunzke, Alden; Tessa (Nathaniel) Cummings, Wells; Spencer Niebuhr, Alden; Mark (Tina) Schroeder, Owatonna; Lisa (Shaun) Olson, Wells; Derek Schroeder, Wells; Heather (Mike) Obermeyer, Walters; Tiffany (Bruce) Parks Jr., Wells; Brady Swehla (special friend Mo), Alden; “Trae” Merlyn Swehla III, Alden; 23 great-grandchildren: Coltin, Logan, Gage, Shayanne, Payton Sailor; Mayson, Cearra, Vivian Grunzke; Chloe and Corbin Cummings; Drew, Trevor, Karli Schroeder; Hayley, Hannah, Brennan Olson; Cole and Taylor Schroeder; Brielle, Ellery, Addilyn and Lyndee Obermeyer, Soren Swehla; Siblings: Leverne (Liz) Skov of Albert Lea, Russ (Marilyn) Skov of Hayfield, MN, sister-in-law, Pat Skov of New Richland; along with many nieces, nephews and their families.

     Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and husband Merlyn Sr., brother: Duane Skov; nephew Mike Skov, great-niece, Holly Enser.
