Donald Giese
Donald John Giese, age 87, of Wells, MN, died Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Parkview Care Center in Wells, MN. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 10:30 AM at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN. The service will be LiveStreamed from Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home’s Facebook page. Visitation will be Friday, February 26, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Father Greg Havel and Deacon Gene Paul will officiate and burial will be in St. Casimir Cemetery in Wells, MN. Military Honors will be accorded by the Wells Color Guard. Masks will be required and social distancing regulations will be followed.
Donnie was born April 18, 1933 the son of John and Marcella (Brandt) Giese in Wells, MN. He graduated from Kiester High school and entered the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He married Lois Pitcher on September 15th, 1960 and had one child, Sharon, in 1961. He had worked as a brick layer prior to working at Wells Concrete, where he retired from at the age of 62. He loved camping at Phil’s Park and spending time with his dog, Poopsie. He enjoyed going to the VFW with his buddies to play deuces and pull tabs. He loved listening to country western music.
Donald is survived by one daughter, Sharon Clay and her husband Darin of Wells, MN; grandchildren: Zachary Clay, Savannah and her husband Mike Thamez, Ethan Clay (Sara Legarde) and Emmett, all of Wells, MN; siblings: Howard (wife Janet) Giese of Glencoe, MN, Gloria (Duane) Wigern of Biscay, MN, JoAnn Giese of Wells, MN; In-Laws: Donna (Quentin) Stenzel of Wells, Cathy Quam of Rake, IA, Diane (Mike) Henning of Bricelyn, MN, Joe (Hilda) Pitcher of Burlington, KY, Jimmy (Cheryl) Pitcher, Jerry (Trudy) Pitcher, Barb Albers (special friend Glenn Giese) all of Wells, MN; numerous nieces and nephews and their families, along with many friends.
He was preceded in death his parents; wife Lois in 2008; sister: Delores (Eugene) Mulcahy; In-laws: Lloyd (Mary Lou) Bratsch, Donald (Avis) Pitcher, Lyle Quam, Daniel Pitcher, Dale Albers; nephews: Jamie Stenzel, Blake Pitcher and Troy Rathai; great-nephew: Kelby Olson; great-great-niece, Maya Olson.
