David Ehrich, age 79, of Wells, MN, died Friday, February 19, 2021, at Parkview Care Center in Wells, MN. Memorial Services will be private with the family on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN, with Father Greg Havel officiating. Public visitation with the family will be Thursday, February 25, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. Burial will be in St. Casimir Cemetery in Wells, MN in the spring with full military honors accorded by the Wells Color Guard. To leave online condolences, please visit: brussheitner.com
David Fredrick was born December 19, 1941 the youngest of six children born to Andrew and Marie (Werner) Ehrich in Wells, MN. David enlisted in the United States Army in 1959 serving three years, later he served one year as a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked for a year at the creamery in Wells as a truck driver. During that time, he dated Joyce Dulas and a year later they were married on Sept. 5, 1964.
Remaining in Wells, Dave worked at Pre-Stress for 10 years and Joyce worked in Waseca at E. F. Johnson. In 1969 they adopted son Joel and in 1972 adopted daughter Ann. Hunting and fishing trips of all sorts with friends and family were his ultimate goal with his free time. His talent in gunsmithing and shooting ability led him to the Wells Rifle & Pistol Club, Trap teams, and many other successful ventures. Over the years he held many occupations and volunteer positions. He served as an EMT for ten years, worked as a policeman for 15 years, was a mechanic at Del Monte for over 25 years. Prior to retirement he worked at Herman MFG, and Weber Construction driving truck.
David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Ehrich of Wells; son Joel (wife Cindy) Ehrich of Stacy, MN; Ann Ehrich (Bob Placek) of Wells; 4 grandchildren: Joseph, Ellie and James Ehrich of Stacy, MN, and Andrew Ehrich of Wells; 4 siblings: Carol (Laverne) Gjere of Bricelyn, Donald (Elaine) Ehrich of Albert Lea, William Ehrich of Apple Valley, Robert (Lorraine) Ehrich of Brainerd, MN; In-Laws: Albert Dulas of Eagan, MN, Charles Dulas of Mankato, Bob Long of Kasson, MN; numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death his parents, one sister Donna in infancy; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Long, Helen Ehrich and Rosemary Dulas.
