Keith Braund, age 82, of Emmons, MN, died Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Thorne Crest Nursing Home in Albert Lea, MN.   A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Good Hope Parish (Our Savior’s Lutheran Church) in Kiester, MN with Pastor Peg Marose officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021 from Noon until 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Kiester, MN.

Keith was born May 19, 1939 in Mansfield Twp., Freeborn Co., MN, the son of Chester and Alpha (Thorson) Braund.  He was united in marriage to Alice M. Hamson, one of the first couples to be married at the newly built Bricelyn Lutheran Church July 27, 1958. To this union three children were born: Mike, Jody and Lisa.  The couple enjoyed bowling in a couple’s league, and for many years were members of Farming of Yesteryear in rural Kiester, known for making the soup!  Keith drove and participated in many demolition derbies around the area, winning many times.  He was a member of the Kiester Coop Elevator Board, a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and held office on the church council.  Keith was a long-time farmer and mechanic, having worked at Sime Implement and Rod’s 66 Service in Kiester.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alice Braund of Emmons; children: Mike (Dawn) Braund of Kiester, Jody (Paul) Mutschler of Elizabeth, CO; son-in-law Todd Vogelsang of Albert Lea; 7 grandchildren: Matthew Braund (fiancé Nika Lawrie), Kimberly (Jeff) Winder; Josh (Nicole) Mutschler, Justin (Rachel) Mutschler, Jill (Taylor) Burley; Jenna (Tyler) Hegwood and Holly (Blake) Stiernagle; 11 great-grandchildren:  Ava, Calla way, Madison; Jacob, Andrew, Lucas; Braytyn, Brecken, Brixton; Crosby; and Calvin; 1 sister, Lynn (John) Wirkkala of Bella Vista, AR; 2 brothers-in-law: Wayne Ellertson of Charles City, IA, and Roger Oldfather of Kiester; sister-in-law, Bonnie Braund of Albert Lea, MN; Alice’s siblings: Roger (Pat) Hamson and Cathy Oldfather, all of Kiester, MN, Sharyl (Lee) Johnson of Bricelyn, Judy Hamson of Frost and Rich Hamson of Golden Valley, MN; along with many nieces, nephews and their families.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, brother Vernon, daughter Lisa Vogelsang; 4 sisters: LaVonne Oldfather, Marlys (Robert) Harig, Jean Ellertson, LeeAnn (Howard) Nicholson; brothers-in-law, Guy Oldfather and Paul Hamson.
