Robert “Bob” Doyle
Robert Omer “Bob” Doyle, age 79, of Easton, MN, died Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Heartland Senior Living Clark Crossings in Wells, MN. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton, MN with Fr. Greg Havel and Deacon Gene Paul officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Wells Color Guard. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 AM Saturday prior to the service. Interment will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Barber Twp., Faribault Co., MN.
Robert Omer was born April 28, 1942 the son of Omer and Mary Alice (Temple) Doyle in Rochester, MN. Bob attended grade school at OLMC in Easton, and graduated from Wells-Easton High School. Bob was a Golden Glove boxer, being the Minneapolis Flyweight Champion in 1958. He went on to fight in the National Tournament in Chicago. Bob joined the U.S. Army in June 1960 and was honorably discharged in June 1962. On April 4, 1964 he was united in marriage to Rose Nowak at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN and to this union two children were born. Bob owned and operated Easton Oil, a bulk petroleum delivery business. He also owned the Little Pumper Cardtrol gas and diesel pumps in Easton. Bob spent many years bartending at The Club in Easton for Norm and Sandy Berkland, and also the Wells VFW, which he enjoyed and made many new friends. He was very active in the community, coaching the Wells-Easton Boxing Club and Little League. Bob volunteered on the Easton Fire Department for 31 years, and served 20 years on the Easton City Council. He was also a lifetime member of OLMC and a member Easton American Legion Post #569. Bob enjoyed reading, watching TV and the daily markets. He was very proud of his Irish heritage; St. Patrick’s Day was a holiday for him. Bob enjoyed socializing with friends and relatives. For over 30 years the family had a summer vacation to Heath’s Resort on the Upper Whitefish Chain of lakes. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife Rose Doyle of Easton, MN; children: Shannon (Lonny) Schroeder of Easton, MN, and Patrick (Deb) Doyle of Tomah, WI; grandchildren: Andy (Rachel) Schroeder and Bryanna (Troy) Sonnek all of Easton, MN; Nathan (Melissa) Doyle of Lakeville, MN, Tyler Doyle of Altoona WI, and Kristy (Adam) Barta of Toledo, OH; great-grandchildren: Avery and Sawyer Schroeder, Ethan Fickett, Madison and Carter Doyle and Aubrey Barta and baby Barta coming in June; brothers and sisters-in-law: Rob Neubauer of Blue Earth, MN, Dawn Doyle of Easton, MN, Don (Nancy) Nowak, Mark (Lea) Nowak, all of Wells, MN, Tony (Barb) Nowak of Owatonna, MN; many nieces, nephews and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Frank Doyle and Dan (Jean) Doyle; sister Rita Neubauer; parents-in-law: Andrew and Mary Nowak; sister-in-law Jane (James) Ritter.
