Patricia Sonnek
Patricia Clara Sonnek, age 86, of Wells, MN died Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the Mapleton Community Home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022 at Nasinec Funeral Home (789 Business Park Drive, Wells, MN). Service will follow at 1:00 PM with Fr. Peter Klein officiating. Burial will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells, MN. Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells is entrusted with arrangements.
Pat was born September 19, 1935 the daughter of Lester and Goldie May (Carson) Diamond in Newport, MN. She graduated from St. Paul Park High School, the class 1953. Pat was united in marriage to George Benjamin Sonnek on June 16th, 1962 in Rochester, MN. She attended Nurses Training at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, and worked as an LPN and a bank teller, retiring from People’s State Bank in Wells. She was a long-time member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, active in St. James Circle and CCW. Her hobbies included bowling, 500 Card Club, playing card games, as well as scrapbooking.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, George; her daughter Diane Mathews, granddaughter Amanda Sonnek, and grandson Joseph Mathews (Sunshine Giese); great-grandchildren: Michael and Madalynn; Isaac and baby girl Azalia on the way; Xilas; sisters: Gloria Reichstadt and Judy Samuell; sister-in-law, Jackie Diamond, and many nieces & nephews and their families.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, daughter Pamela Jean, sons Baby David and Brian, siblings: Ethel (Marvin) Derdoski, Lorraine Holzemer, Geraldine Diamond, Avis Stevens, Raymond Diamond; brothers-in-law: Robert Reichstadt and Roger Samuell.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to St. Casimir Parochial School.

Sorry for your loss, So many memories starting as kids camping. Fishing, grilling, and vacations together. More recently visiting at the nursing home. RIP Pat ❤

So sorry for your loss George, Diane and family. Your family was the best of friends. I remember working in the fields with George when I was a young boy and Pat always had lunch waiting for us. I remember babysitting for them also. We will say prayers for you and let Pat rest in peace. God Bless you all.
I was saddened when I saw Pat’s notice. I worked with her at People’s State Bank for two summers before heading to the Twin Cities. It was a great group of co-workers. Thoughts to her family members.
