Jeanne Louise Varino was born January 3rd, 1948, daughter of Wilfred H. Varino and Genevieve (Schamber) Varino in San Bernadino, California. Jeanne was a single mother to Ricky and Christopher Campbell before being wed to Fred Brooks, Jr. in March of 1974. Three years later their daughter Diana was born. Jeanne was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked nights and went to college during the day when she was in her 30’s. She was a selfless woman who took a break from her education to continue raising her family, while making a number of moves as a military spouse. She loved every moment of it! She enjoyed traveling across the country with her family during their military moves, because those trips were family vacations. Jeanne continued her education receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from Devry University in her 50’s. She spent 40 years working in government employee benefits. Jeanne was a member of the Kiester Legion Auxiliary and Kiester Lions for several years, and she was the first female Mayor of Kiester serving from 2010 to 2014. Jeanne and Fred retired and moved to Las Vegas. They left Las Vegas to move to Kiester, MN to help their daughter raise her son. Yet another selfless act Jeanne did for her family.
Jeanne is survived by her husband of 49 years, Fred Brooks; children: Richard Campbell, Christopher (Kristin) Campell and Diana Brooks; grandchildren: Tyler Campbell, Branden Campbell, Tymicka Diamond Davis, Chandler (Courtney) Campbell, Cameron Campbell, Madison Campbell, and Joshua Brooks; great-grandchildren Akendrah and Hartford; sister Janet Antush ; sisters-in-law: Fonda (Herb) Williams and Debbie Brooks; mother-in-law Hazel Brooks; along with many nieces, nephews, and their families whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law Fred Brooks Sr., nephew Eric, her sisters Judy Wilcox, Joanne Varino, and Joyce Varino, and her brother-in-law Marty Antush.

Sorry for your loss Fred, Diana, Joshua and Christopher. I loved her and enjoyed great times playing games, talking and laughing and just spending time with all. Love you.
I loved Jeanne. She was a wonderful daughter-in-law and will be missed dearly. Bless you all.
First met Jeanne in 2010 when we attended the Blandin Foundation leadership week in Grand Rapids. Great mind and great at creating friendships. You have our sympathies! Remember her always ❤️
Grandma I have so much to say but can’t get it all out; first thing first is I want to honestly say thank you for the time we did get with each other. Because of you I met my brothers Tyler and Branden and all the family! I always prayed that one day u and aunt bobo would get to meet your great grand daughter Akendrah. She hears about the crazy game nights and me flying to Georgia all by my self at 11 years old. Not to mention my first time on a plane. I was so nervous because I’ve only met you once before that, and sure enough I didn’t want to leave. Thank you for that. Just know now that I am older and a mother myself never let the little things get in the way of your love for a family member just because another family member did their damage! Blood is blood regardless! I love you gram and please tell aunt Joanne I said hi:) and I have it on my bucket list to come and see the family out there again.
Jeanne was a wonderful Mother. and an excellent human.
Thank you to all that attended the celebration of life for my GREAT MOTHER Jeanne L Brooks! She was a phenomenal mother always put everyone first in everything. Mom I love you and will see you on the side.
