James Lee (Jim) Butson, age 73, of Wells, MN, died Tuesday, September 5, 2023. The family will be having a private celebration of life at a later date. Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells is entrusted with arrangements. Please see www.nasinecfh.com to leave online condolences.
Jim was born October 22, 1949 in Waterloo, IA, the son of Wallace and Winifred “Wink” (Knuths) Butson. Jim graduated from Wells-Easton High School, the class of 1967. After graduation, Jim enlisted in the Navy and served from 1969 to 1975, most of that time in nuclear submarines. He furthered his Navy electronics education at Austin Vocational and Technical College in Austin, MN. Over the years Jim was willing and able to work a variety of jobs from electronics to truck driving and wood working. He was passionate about hunting, and was a lifelong music, movie and motorcycle enthusiast.
Jim is survived by his siblings: Pamela Lund of Rochester, MN, John (Patricia) Butson of Laurinburg, NC, Connie (Bill) Allis of Wells, and Patrick Butson of Swansea, SC; 6 nieces and nephews and their spouses; 8 great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Michael Butson and sister-in-law, Sharon Butson.

Jim ate many meals at my Moms table, he appreciated her cooking skills! One of Jim’s favorites was homemade French fries! They used to watch Wheel of Fortune together.
Jim was a well liked classmate w a twinkle in his eye for the girls! Sincere sympathies to his brothers & sisters.

So sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. He was a great friend and loved coming to our house for a homecooked meal. He always said, if you leave hungry from the Manitz house, it’s your own d*mn fault! He spent many hours here making salsa (and sampling it!) and HOT chili with Mark and we had a lot of laughs! You were known as “Uncle Jimbo” to our daughters and we loved you as family. RIP Jimbo.
So sorry for your family’s loss. Jimbo was one of a kind! Loved his smile and he was always in a good mood. I enjoyed listening to his stories. Our condolences.
