Alverna Selma Ehlert, age 100, passed away Friday, December 7, 2023 at the Mapleton Community Home. Memorial Services will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 at 3:00PM at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells, MN with Kim Jacobson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 PM at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells, MN. Burial is private with family.
Alverna was born on a beautiful 62-degree day on May 2, 1923 to William and Minnie (Boeder) Elmer on the family farm east of Wells. She was baptized and confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church (now Good Shepherd Lutheran Church) and was a life-long member. Alverna attended country school outside Wells.
She was united in marriage to Alvin Ehlert on April 10, 1942, and they had one son, Elmer. Alverna’s hobbies were cooking, baking, canning and embroidering dish towels. She loved watching westerns on TV and her favorite program was Molly B’s Polka Party.
Elmer’s sons, Kevin and Brian were her pride and joy and they were together all the time as the boys were growing up.
For the past 10 years, Alverna has been living in Sister Care in Blue Earth, MN.
Alverna is survived by her son Elmer (wife Kathy) Ehlert of Winnebago, MN; 2 grandsons: Kevin (wife Cheryl) Ehlert of Rochester, MN and Brian (wife Kathy) Ehlert of Bricelyn, MN; 7 great-grandchildren: Kylie and Calla of Menominee Falls, WI, Selma (Joey) Linert of Madison Heights, MI; Megan (Phillip) Ehlert of Wells, Corey (Makenzie) Ehlert, Conner Ehlert and Melany Ehlert, all of Bricelyn, MN; 2 great-great-grandsons: Jaxton Ehlert of Wells, and Colton John Ehlert of Bricelyn, MN; along with 4 nieces and 1 nephew and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin (1989), brother Manville (Martha) Elmer
Our sympathies to all the family. She was a special lady. Our son 11 at the time was being home schooled by mrs wolf. He had lymes so to get him out on his good days we gopher trapped. It was in 1989. There was a slug of gopher mounds by her. We saw her outside and asked permission and visited. First time I’d met her. She was a special lady
