Donald Mark Cory, age 63, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024. Services and burial will be held at a later date.
Donald Cory was born in Wells, MN March 8, 1961 to Gordon and Dolores (Stenzel) Cory. He grew up one of fourteen kids living on the family farm which homesteaded in 1871. He attended grade school at Mt. Carmel Catholic School in Easton until 8th grade and finished out his schooling at Wells-Easton high school, where he was the state champion at wrestling. He would return to the school periodically to help mentor the younger kids in the wrestling program.
Don was a proud, strong, man who loved his family and neighbors. When his brother Tim was diagnosed with cancer, Don stepped up to help Tim with farm duties as well as the care of their mother. He was determined to follow his dad and Tim’s wishes by keeping his mother in her home and maintaining the family farm operations; he did an excellent job at both of these tasks. Don had the best sense of humor and could always find a way to make Dolores and others laugh. He led a full life and was most proud of a former relationship which produced a daughter and later two grandchildren. He loved knowing he was a grandpa.
Don enjoyed many things in life including anything to do with fixing machines, working on small engines, welding, and construction. It wasn’t enough to just complete a job; he would continue until everything was perfect. Fishing at Walnut Lake with his brother Tim was another favorite activity. Don also enjoyed raising cattle and buying chickens in the spring, which he would later process with the help of his beloved nieces and nephews. He mastered the art of making beef jerky and loved to share it with friends and neighbors as a symbol of appreciation for their help and support.
Don’s family would like to give a special thanks to friends and neighbors that helped both him and his mother over the years. He was very grateful for all of you and appreciated you all immensely.
Don is survived by his daughter Jessica Cory (Andrew) and two granddaughters, twelve siblings, along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents Gordon and Dolores Cory, brother Tim Cory and sister Mary Ford.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Sympathies may be directed to Nasinec Funeral Home, 789 Business Park Dr, Wells, MN 56097.
