Richard M. Kauffmann, age 79, of Wells, MN died Monday June 3, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato. No visitation or service will be held as Richard wanted to keep things simple. If you wish to send memorials, please mail them to Nasinec Funeral Home.
Richard was born November 5, 1944 to Harold and Marie (Kuster) Kauffmann of Wells, MN. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Jacobsen on July 2, 1966 and divorced in 2001. To this union they were blessed with 4 children, Kimberly, Karen, Christopher, and Karleah.
Richard worked for Streater Inc. in Albert Lea before becoming a very skilled carpenter, willing to take on any challenge working with wood, building additions, roofing, siding etc., taking great pride in his work. Richard particularly enjoyed driving around the countryside taking in the sights, fishing, hunting and long conversations with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Marie (Kuster) Kauffman.
Richard is survived by his children: Kimberly Spilman, Karen (Mike) Shaffer, Christopher Kauffmann, and Karleah (Tito) Ramirez, all of Wells, MN; grandchildren: Shaun, Nick, & Kelly Spilman, Tyler Kauffmann, Dylan Shaffer, Jazmine & Elias Kauffmann, Lily, Eva & Julia Ramirez; great grandchildren: Stella Spilman, Xavian Hermel, & Astraea Kauffmann, to whom he was lovingly known as Papa; His brother Dean Kauffmann of Wells, MN, sister Betty (Dan) Stenzel of Wells, MN and sister Mary Dezell of Longmont, Colorado, along with many nieces, nephews and their families.
Richard was dearly loved by his family; his memory will be forever held in our hearts.
Dick was a family friend. A close friend with my brother Jack Hovland. I was lucky to see him about 2 years ago at my rummage sale. Had a wonderful time going over memories. That was his gift to me. What a guy! He will be missed. So sorry for your loss. Sue Cummings Grunzke and Donnie.
