Michael (Mike) Allan Buchholz passed away at his home in Alden, MN, on Saturday, June 15th, 2024. A private service with the family will be held at a later date. If you wish to send memorials, please mail them to Nasinec Funeral Home.
Mike was born September 28th, 1959, in Watertown, SD to Donald and Kay (Flanigan) Buchholz. He graduated in 1977 from Arlington High School in SD. After graduation, he joined the Air Force.
Following his time in the service, he worked in Brookings, SD moving mobile homes. During his time in Brookings, he was blessed to be a dad to Kelly, Jeremiah, and Justin. In the years following, he moved to Minnesota where he was most recently employed at Brakebush Brothers Inc. in Wells, MN.
He shared the last 21 years of his life with his lifelong companion, Doreen (Reenie) Neitzel. Mike gained four sons through this relationship, Chad, Clint, Cole and Corie.
He was happy-go-lucky and was known for his quirky one-line comebacks, and what he would call “good advice.” At times Mike could seem to be rough and tough; but on the inside, he was a softy with a heart of gold. He was very proud to be a grandpa to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mike was an avid fisherman who loved to go on family fishing trips. He spent many hours in the boat with family and friends and liked to tell tall tales of his fishing adventures. He was most content when he was at the lake with a fishing pole in his hand.
He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Buchholz and his grandson Zachary Neitzel.
Grateful for having shared his life are his significant other, Reenie Neitzel, his children: Kelly Prochazka and Jeremiah (Becca) Buchholz; step-children: Chad (Elizabeth) Neitzel, Clint Neitzel, Cole (Brittany) Neitzel and Corie (Ashley) Neitzel; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings: Rita (Ron) Henry, Dan (Kathy) Buchholz, and Bert (Lisa) Buchholz; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins.
