Arthur “Art” James Stenzel, age 94, of Wells, MN, died Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Parkview Care Center in Wells, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells at 10:30 AM with Fr. Pratap officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells, MN from 4:00-7:00 PM and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wed. (9:30-10:30 M). Art was born January 4, 1930, the son of Alex and Amelia (Bushlack) Stenzel in rural Wells, MN. Upon his honorable discharge from the United States Army (Korean War), he returned to farming. On June 19, 1954, he was united in marriage to Janet Carolyn Noetzel in Waseca, MN. To this union 5 children were born.
Art was a life-long farmer, enjoying every aspect of farming. He was an active 4-H parent when his children were growing up. He served on the Dunbar Township Board and was a member of the Wells Jaycees. He was a long-time member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He received his 72 year membership in the Wells American Legion Post and the Wells VFW, of which he was extremely proud. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, playing cribbage and cards.
Art is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Janet Stenzel of Wells; sons: Mark (Leah) Stenzel of Blaine, MN, Ron (Wanda) Stenzel of Marshall, MN, Pat (Joanie) Stenzel of Wells, MN, daughters: Mary (Steve) Thrond of Walters, MN, Ann (Lee) Roberts of New Hope, MN; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; brother Dan (Betty) Stenzel and sister-in-law, Barbara Stenzel, all of Wells, MN; Janet’s siblings: Tina (Chuck) Madson of Faribault, MN, Steve (Jenny) Noetzel of SC, and Mary (Don) Giese of Sun City, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws: Herbert and Elizabeth Noetzel, brother and sister -in-law, Clem and Jean Stenzel, brother Richard Stenzel, sister-in-law Ann and Floyd Falkum, brother-in-law David and Lavonne Noetzel, sister-in-law Margaret and David Shepherd and brother-in-law Noel and Ruth Noetzel.
We are sad to hear of Art’s passing. He was a good friend and cribbage partner and how I enjoyed those Tuesday afternoon games and then supper at Jake’s pizza. We will always treasure those memories and pray that God will comfort you in your grief .
