Emily Ann Malakowsky, age 87, of Wells, MN passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024 at Mayo Health System, Mankato surrounded by her family. The funeral service will be 11:00 am, Thursday September 5th with a visitation an hour (10:00am-11:00am) before the service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, MN with Pastor Vern Christopherson officiating. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.
Emily was born November 25, 1936 to Carl and Sophie (Kuether) Groskreutz in Vivian Township where she lived most of her life. She was confirmed April 2, 1950 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Vivian Township. She attended a country schoolhouse near their farm and graduated from Waldorf High School in 1955.
She was joined in marriage April 16, 1958 to Harvey Malakowsky at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells and the couple were happily married for 66 years. Together they raised three children: Cheryl, Steven and David.
Emily and Harvey worked together at their dairy operation for most of their married life. Emily was an excellent baker and always made sure there was a dessert available for visitors who stopped by, and the candy dish was always full. She especially looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved listening to old- time and gospel music, attending to her flower garden and watching many birds on their farm. She always gave more than she received.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Harvey; children: Cheryl (Ron) Miller, Steven (Julie) Malakowsky and David (Teresa) Malakowsky; 10 wonderful grandchildren: Lance (Stephanie) Miller, Amy (Bikash) Koju, Alan (Alexa) Miller, Daniel (Clarissa) Miller, Brian (Heather) Malakowsky, Jacob (Alexis) Malakowsky, Emily Lynn (Mitch) Jewison, Amelia (Colin) Wittmer, Avery Malakowsky and Sophia Malakowsky; 12 great-grandchildren: Lillyan & Adalyn Miller; Cayden, Emmett & Alex Koju; Lydia & Elnora Miller; Kennedy & Maddie Malakowsky; Jaxson More; Vanessa & Henry Wittmer; brothers and sisters in law: Karen Malakowsky, Janice & Clarence Ayers and Jim Malakowsky.
Emily is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Sophie Groskreutz; sister Elnora; grandson Kyle Malakowsky; father and mother-in-law Emil and Pauline Malakowsky; brothers and sisters in law, Norman and Bev Malakowsky, Emil Malakowsky and Mary Malakowsky.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends and we are comforted by the strength of her faith and trust that she now walks with Christ.

Emily came to my hair salon for many years. I always enjoyed our visits. She so enjoyed her family.
