It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doug Johnson, age 67 of Mankato, on October 30, 2024. The funeral service will take place at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells on Monday, November 4 at 2:00pm with a visitation one hour prior to the service (1:00-2:00pm); a reception will be held after the service and interment at Lura Cemetery to follow.
Doug was a devoted family man, skilled carpenter, and farmer, who left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him. Born December 15, 1956, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, to Forrest and Patricia (Nowicki) Johnson. Doug grew up on the family farm in Easton, MN, surrounded by his loving siblings. He was a graduate of Delavan High School, where he enjoyed participating in numerous sports and spending time with friends.
Doug’s strong work ethic and dedication to his craft were evident in his career as a carpenter and farmer. He took pride in working on the family farm, where he raised his own family, including son Nick and daughter Laura, alongside LaNay (Goodrich) Johnson.
Those who knew Doug will remember his sense of humor, which could light up a room and bring joy to all those around him. Despite facing numerous medical challenges, Doug remained committed to physical fitness, inspiring those around him with his resilience and determination.
As we mourn this loss, we take comfort in the memories we shared with him and the impact he had on our lives.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patti Stolz.
He is survived by his son Nick (Chelsie) Johnson, daughter Laura (Brock) Teske, grandchildren Yale, Fynn, Vivian, and Madeline, sister Pam (Mark) Braunshausen, brothers Mike (Marlene) Johnson and Brian Johnson, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Doug, you’ve been a blessing to this family. I’ve always look forward to going to Minnesota and spend time with you and your family and getting to laugh and feel loved. You are truly missed.
I didn’t know Doug long, but he was our neighbor the past few years. Doug was always so kind to my three year old daughter and even helped me get my car unstuck a few winters ago. An extremely kind man that I know presence will be missed. Rest easy, Doug.
So sorry for your loss may the peace be with you

I may have met Douglas when he was a little boy. I am 7 years older than he was. Forest was one of my older cousins. Douglas’s Grandmother Agnes and my mother Bertha were sisters. I graduated from high school in 1968 and went into the Air Force. After I retired We have lived in Southern Maryland. I said all of that to say his family and friends are in our hearts and prayers.
