Lowell Andrew Schuster born on the old Schuster place NE of Minnesota Lake on February 23, 1935 a son of Andrew (Pete) and Dorothy (Schultz) Schuster and was raised in rural Freeborn.
Lowell graduated from Freeborn High School. He enjoyed playing high school sports, especially baseball. He continued to play softball for many years, and was inducted into the Freeborn County Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame.
While in school and after, he helped his parents farm. He fulfilled his mandatory military service; and was honorably discharged from the US Army following four years of service. After he returned home, he bought a farm near his home place. It was here that he brought his bride, Bonnie Loke, who he married August 20, 1966.
They were blessed with four children: Christine, Fr. Peter, Mary, and Mark.
Lowell and Bonnie continued farming together until Mark took over the operation. In retirement he and Bonnie moved “across the road” and enjoyed rural living. He waited for the first flock of geese in the spring, rowing the newly planted corn, the first tomato, watching for deer and pheasants, and the high school football season.
Lowell was a lifelong member of St. Casimir Catholic Church. He also was a member of the Freeborn Legion Post #552 and Freeborn Gun Club. He was a devout Catholic. He treasured his family, and was proud he raised his kids on a farm. Faith, family, and farming were his life.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie of Wells, MN; children Christine of Wells, MN, Father Peter Schuster of Slayton, MN, Mark (Shana) of Wells and Mary of California; one brother, Albert (Shirley) Schuster and sister Lorraine Heilman.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Bernie Heilmann.
