Darlene Bias, age 97 of Wells, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025 in Albert Lea, MN. A visitation will be at 10am Saturday, January 25,2025 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am Saturday, January 25, 2025 at St. Casimir Catholic Church with Father Pratap Reddy Salibindla officiating and burial at Alden Cemetery.
Darlene May Bias was born October 2, 1927 to John and Martha DePoppe in Filmore County. She married Carl Schmidt and they welcomed 4 children: Cheryl, Paulette, Faith and Lori. They were foster parents to Debbie, Linda, Muriel and Paulette Walker. After Carl’s death in 1985, Darlene married Clement Bias in 1990. Darlene was a faithful member at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN.
She always put others first and was a great listener. She worked as a Nurses Aid at the Wells Hospital until it’s closing, then worked at Parkview Care Center in Wells until she retired. She enjoyed crocheting blankets for gifts and she took pride in her vegetable and flower gardens. She lived on the hobby farm outside of Alden for over 70 years before moving to Oak Park Place in Albert Lea.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl (1985); husband Clement (2012); daughters: Paulette Oothoudt and Faith Soost; foster daughter Paulette Walker; step-son Tony Bias; son-in-law Tom Schlosser; grandchildren: Mark Schlosser and Brian Schlosser; grandson-in-law Randy Gill; siblings: Raymond (Anna) DePoppe, Merle (Betty) DePoppe, Donald (Marianne) DePoppe, Harold (Rosella) DePoppe, Lorena (Leonard) Klompenhower, Wendel (Jane) DePoppe, step grandson Elias Otdoerfser.
She is survived by her children: Cheryl Schlosser, Lori (Stan) Creamer; son-in-law Larry Soost; foster children: Muriel, Linda, Deb; step-children: Virginia (Gene) Rudebusch, Teresa (Bud) Jarvis, Patricia (Floyd) Otdoerfer, Al Bias, John Bias, Bernard (Becky) Bias; step-daughter-in-law Pat Bias; grandchildren: Rhonda Gill and Gail Scholesser; Terri (Aaron) Hultin and Gary (Lynn) Oothoudt; Shane (Ashley) Cole, Meriah Cole; Kyle (Lorayne) Jensen and Blair (Tony) Meland; step grandchildren: Christopher, Jennifer, Ruth, Laura, Richard, Sara, Amy, Marcelline, Blaine, Brice, Ben; 19 great-grandchildren; many step-great grandchildren; many great-great- grandchildren; brother Wayne (Diane) DePoppe; many nieces and nephews.

Darlene and I worked together as St Casimir began the counting teams. A very kind soul and great worker. Dave and I are also very proud of two Valentine afghans Darlene donated for the Carnival auctions. Rest in peace Darlene. Our sympathies to the entire family.

Darlene and Carl provided us foster kids a well disciplined, loving upbringing which I will forever be grateful for. Us ladies have so many happy memories of our life in Alden, MN. I also am thankful for the work ethic that was instilled in me. God bless Darlene, forever in our hearts….<3
