Sidney “Sid” Johnson, age 86 of Wells, MN passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 at St. Johns Lutheran Care Center – The Woodlands in Albert Lea surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10am-11am with a memorial service starting at 11am at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells, MN. A luncheon will follow the service with burial at Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.
Sidney Clarence Johnson was born April 13, 1938 to Clarence and Gladys (Martin) Johnson on their farm outside of Easton, MN. Sid married Marlyss Edwin in Albert Lea on January 26, 1957, to this union they welcomed three children: Ronald, Mitchell and Michelle. He worked at Farmstead (Wilson & Co.) in Albert Lea for 31 years. Sid belonged to the Albert Lea Eagles Club, he was Eagle of the year in 2009 and he helped raise money for various charities at the Eagles Club. He enjoyed to golf, bowl, throw darts, play horseshoes and play softball in his younger years. He also loved fishing, his annual trips to BWCA with friends and enjoyed to help Marlyss in the garden. Sid was proud of his 5-generation family.
Sid is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law: Henry Edwin, Casimir and Emma Schultz; daughter Michelle Meyer; grandson Ben Steckelberg; siblings: Keith Johnson, Steve Johnson and Sue (Les) Barbknecht; godson Troy Johnson; sister-in-law Sharon Johnson.
He is survived by his wife Marlyss; children: Ronald Johnson and Mitchell Johnson; grandchildren: Jason Johnson, Aubrey Steckelberg, Megan (Arik) Matson, Macey Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Crystal Dietrich; great-grandchildren: Tyler Klose, Tashina Barta, Noalin Nordaas, Audrina and Maklynn Matson; great-great-grandson Thorsten Klose; son-in-law Mark Meyer; brothers: Neil Johnson and Terry Johnson; godchildren: Molly Iverson, Rhonda Krueger, Jayda Oakland, Charity Possin; sisters-in-law: Pat Johnson and Jane Edwin; several nieces and nephews.
A wonderful man! He was my neighbor at the farm. I grew up with his children, seen him in passing at many establishments, nice man, caring man. He will be missed by so many. Hugs to all.
