Tanner John Steckelberg, age 27, of Wells, MN passed away in his sleep Sunday, February 23, 2025. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 2:00 – 5:00 Pm at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells with a prayer service at 5:00 PM. Pastor Vern Christopherson will officiate.
Tanner was born June 29, 1997 in Albert Lea, MN, the son of Dean and Shera (Zabel) Steckelberg. Tanner attended United South Central High School, graduating with the class of 2016. While in high school, he played baseball. After graduation, he worked at Wow Zone in Mankato as a cook. He loved to Bowl, he had bowled a 300 twice. He was an avid MN sports enthusiast-especially the Minnesota Twins. He loved the Steckelberg’s family yearly get-togethers. His family and friends were very important to him.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Shera; brother Ben; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
He is survived by his dad Dean Steckelberg of Owatonna, MN; sister Aubrey Steckelberg of Apple Valley, MN; 2nd mom Carmen Tatarek of Wells; niece Tashina Barta, nephew and godson Noalin Nordaas; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

This is so incredibly sad. We are so sorry for your family’s loss. I’ll never forget capturing Tanner’s 3 point shots on camera as the whole gym would cheer for him. May God watch over him.
