JoAnne Mary Beck, age 78, of North Mankato MN, formerly of Minnesota Lake, MN passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 18,2025 at Mapleton Community Home. A memorial service will be Friday, March 28, 2025 at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells at 2:00pm with a visitation one hour (1:00-2:00pm) prior to the service. Father Pratap Reddy Salibindla will officiate the service and interment will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Minnesota Lake, MN.
JoAnne Mary Beck was born January 1st 1947 in Owatonna the daughter of Louis and Garnette (Feist) Latusek. She grew up on the family farm south of Minnesota Lake, and attended school in Minnesota lake. She married Duane Beck in 1965 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minnesota Lake, MN. The couple relocated to Marshalltown, IA. While living in Marshalltown, IA she welcomed their son Shawn in 1972, and Tami in 1975. JoAnne returned to Minnesota Lake in 1975 and stayed in the area until 2001 when she relocated to North Mankato. JoAnne was very much a homebody outside of work. She could often be found snuggled under a warm blanket watching Sci-fi or shopping the HSN Channel.
For many years she worked at the Mapleton Community Home as a Nurses Aid leaving multiple times but always finding her way back. Later in life she worked at NRP in North Mankato and Itron in Waseca. She retired from Itron in 2012 and enjoyed her retirement for a short time. With the boredom of retirement after a couple years she found herself wanting to no longer just be at home and returned to work at the Mapleton Community Home. She enjoyed many years visiting with the residents she knew from Minnesota Lake.
In October of 2023 she fell and broke her hands and over the next 17 months she struggled with multiple health issues and eventually ended up living at Mapleton Community home the last year. She always had a smile on her face and her eyes would light up when she seen her family.
JoAnne was proceeded in death by her parents Louis and Garnette Latusek, Grandson Thane Shaw, and many aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Shawn (Kelcy) Beck, Grandson Andrew (Bianka) Beck, Great Grandchildren Oakley and Henry Beck, Granddaughter Karlie (Cody) Beck, Tami (Dave) Shaw, Grandson Brandon Ly, Granddaughter Amy (Brady) Shaw, Grandson Tucker Shaw, Great Grandchild Sage LY, and brother Robert (Chris) Latusek.
Thank you to Mayo Hospice for the care they have provided over the past year and to her special Hospice worker Sara.
Shawn, so sorry to hear about your Mom. She was always so kind and fun to visit with. May she rest in peace.
