George Norman Albrecht was the youngest of three sons born February 29, 1936 to Rudolph F. and Selma (Busse) Albrecht in Mankato, Minnesota. He was baptized on April 19, 1936 and confirmed in the Christian faith on July 2, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church Mapleton. He attended country school in rural Mapleton and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1954. He served in the National Guard for several years after high school. George married Katherine (Kay) Yokiel February 27, 1965 at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, Wells, MN. George served in leadership roles at St. John Lutheran Church and several years on the Beauford Township Board. George’s journey through his earthly life was spent farming in rural Mapleton; he always did this to the Glory of God in times of bounty and disaster. In retirement, he helped his sons on the farm. This mission to feed the world was also carried out in his retirement by volunteering at the local food shelf. George was a faithful husband, loving father, grandfather, and humble steward of the land. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, silversmithing, and spending winters in Arizona. His greatest joy was watching his grandsons grow up and take an interest in the farming tradition. George was a faithful, humble, quiet man who will be dearly missed.

George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay, two sons; Alan (Linda) Albrecht, Gary Albrecht; two grandsons, Andrew and Ryan Albrecht all of Mapleton, MN. Sisters-in-law, Darlene Albrecht and Barb Loebner and brother-in-law Steve (Deb) Yokiel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Elmer (Dorothy) Albrecht and Lester Albrecht.
