Meldren C. Tolzmann, of Minnesota Lake, MN, age 99, died Saturday, March 6, 2021 at his home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Danville Twp., Blue Earth Co., MN, with Pastor Michael Mathews officiating. For those attending the graveside service, please bring your own seating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Wells Color Guard. Public Visitation will be Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. Masks will be required for both services and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Meldren was born September 7, 1921 to Alfon and Leona (Brandt) Tolzmann on the Tolzmann family farm in Faribault Co., MN. He attended country school # 98 until the 8th grade when he ended his school career to help on the farm. At the age of 22, Meldren was drafted into the United States Army in 1944, during WWII. He did his Basic Training in Fort Snelling and Texas. He was in the 24th Infantry, sweeping islands in the Pacific. He was stationed a mere 10 miles from where the bombs were dropped in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Upon his return home, Meldren was united in marriage to Hazel Miller on September 18, 1947 at the Miller family farm. The couple lived in rural Minnesota Lake, Faribault County, and later to the Miller family farm in Blue Earth County. Meldren was very proud of his two miniature donkeys and miniature goats. After retiring from farming, he began woodworking. He enjoyed fishing and family get-togethers. He could sit and talk with anyone. He was a lifetime member of the Wells VFW and American Legion. He especially enjoyed working at the VFW chicken feed.
Meldren is survived by his two daughters: LuAnn and Kristine Tolzmann, both of Minnesota Lake, MN; sisters: Delilah Burmeister, Path Stone Rehab Center-Mankato, Marjorie More, Mapleton Community Center-Mapleton, Shirley (Bill) Schroeder of Woodland, CA; along with many nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel, brothers: William, Orlen, Lu Verne, Adrian; sisters: Darlene Wandra and Gladys Bruegger

My deepest sympathies to you Kris and LuAnn……you were good caregivers for your Dad for a long time which helped him be able to stay
on his beloved farm…..God has indeed blessed him!!

I remember working with Meldren on the some of the VFW Chicken feeds. He was a very nice man. My deepest sympathy to his family.
