Robert was born on September 4, 1935 in Albert Lea, MN to Richard and Bernadine (Armstrong) Parriott. He attended Kiester High School and left to join the army and serve his country. He served two years in the United States Army, stationed in the Philippines during the Korean War. He met the love of his life, Jeanette Johnson at Kenny’s Recreation Pool Hall in Kiester, MN. On June 9, 1962, they were united in marriage. To this union Kari Lynn was born. Robert was a hard-working farmer, milk hauler, truck driver, and retired from Winnebago Industries. Robert was well known for his “dry” sense of humor, quick wit, infectious grin, big heart, his unabiding love for his family and his country. Robert enjoyed watching old Western movies especially John Wayne and would recite most of the highlights of the movies. He enjoyed tinkering with tractors, watching birds, camping, telling stories, and being in charge of the perfect campfire. He loved his family, especially his granddaughter Mariah Kari, who had her Grandpa wrapped around her little finger since birth.
Robert was a member of Kiester American Legion Post #454, and a member of Good Hope Parish Lutheran Church in Kiester
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Bernadine Parriott, father and mother-in-law Chester and Beatrice (Betty) Johnson Olson, brother Jack Parriott, brothers-in-law Gene Shaw, Norbert Hochrieter and John Randolph, sisters in-law Donna Osmundson and Zelda Kinder.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jeanette of Kiester, MN; daughter Kari “The Kid” Jacobson of Merrifield, MN and granddaughter Mariah “The Little One” Jacobson of Garner, IA; sisters Patricia Hochrieter of Madison, MS, Janet Shaw of Cypress, TX, and Susan Randolph of Seminole, OK; sister-in-law MJ Parriott of Chandler, AZ, brothers-in-law Dale (Cathy) Johnson of Pequot Lakes, MN, and Carroll Johnson (LeAnn Lindeman) of Aitken, MN, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Senior Living-Parkview Care Center, and UHD Hospice for their compassionate care and friendship over the last year.
You’re all in my thoughts and prayers! Thank you for the honor of caring and really getting to know Robert!! You nailed it with him being remembered for his quick wit, dry humor and infectious grin!! I loved our visits while caring for him. Hugs to all of you!!
Our sympathies go out to the whole family. Robert (Beans) maybe wanted us all to believe he was a tough guy, but I think we all knew he was soft hearted deep down, and that was a pretty good quality to have. You will be missed by many.
I never knew your parents met at Kenny’s Recreation. Just warmed my heart when I read that. Sending you all my sympathies and lots of hugs.
Godspeed, Uncle Rob.
So sorry to hear this. Thoughts and prayers to everyone! ♥️
So sorry for your loss to the family
This is Dixie Dahl Kooiker. I saw Robert a few times at Park View as he was in the room next to my Mom, Leota Dahl. My sympathy to Jeanette, Kari, and the entire Parriott family.. I did see Jeanette at Park View also. I have many great memories of playing on that huge lawn, and in the big White House. Crazy how irony and karma brougjt our families paths to cross again now. You all probably know the Dahl Family lost our family Matrarch(Mom) on May 8. Services were May17-18. Thinking of your family. Dixie
