Darlene Mae Johnson, age 89, formerly of Bricelyn, MN died on February 27, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea, MN. A Celebration of life will be held privately with family. Darlene was born September 3, 1933 in Lincoln Township, Winnebago County, Iowa to John and Grace (Kuhlman) Huisman.  She met the love of her life, Richard Arlen Johnson while working for Dr. Hansen. On June 15, 1956, they were united in marriage.  They went on to have three daughters, Pam, Julie, and Kari.   Darlene worked as a waitress at Bud’s Café for many years. She enjoyed visiting with her customers. Darlene found happiness in being a part of her birthday group, and in her early years dancing at the Golden Bubble. Darlene enjoyed baking, sewing, and mending items to make them useful again. Darlene loved spending time with her family and friends.  She was a lifelong member of Good Hope Parish in Bricelyn, MN.

She is survived by her daughters: Pam (John) Sjoberg, Julie (Kevin) Kidder and Kari (Thomas) Legred; grandchildren: Adrian Simser, Ryan Johnson and Victoria Cho-Johnson, Kristin Schuette, Dustin (Stephanie) Kidder, Keisha Kidder, Jenna (Eric) Smart, Mariah (Jalen) Snaza, Kia Legred (fiancé Chase Van Keulen), and Blake Legred;  great-grandchildren: Damon, Felix, Gabrielle, Isabelle, Fran, Wesley, Louisa, Lilah, and Amos; brother John Huisman; sister Josephine Carlson; sisters-in-law: Margaret Courrier and Valoris Johnson and her longtime companion Orvis Hodnefield, and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents John and Grace Huisman, husband Richard Johnson, and siblings: Annette Eckhardt, Betty Deuser and Frances Krinkie.
