James Leon Weber, 91, of Wells, MN died Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato, MN on fishing opener day. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN with visitation an hour prior at the church. Interment will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells, MN, with military honors accorded by the Wells Color Guard. Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells is entrusted with arrangements. James was born October 22, 1931 in Clark Township, Faribault County, MN, the son of Christopher and Augusta (Meyer) Weber. He graduated from Wells High School and enlisted in the US Army. On February 8, 1958 he was united in marriage to Twila Ruth (Reeger) in Pittsburgh, PA, they had six children. Jim farmed the family farm and worked at Wells Concrete. He looked forward to fishing, camping, drinking some beer, fishing, and MORE Fishing! Jim enjoyed gardening, wildlife and bird watching, and keeping his bird feeders filled. He had a streak of ingenuity and inventiveness when it came to keeping the squirrels out of his bird feeders, often using duct tape, underwear elastic bands, and anything else he could get his hands on. Jim enjoyed listening to Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” and Johnny Cash. He was also member of St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells.
James is survived by his children: Bonita Gould of Mankato, MN, Deb Graves of Albert Lea, MN, Dave (Brenda) Weber of Wells, MN, Nancy (Scott) Jeppesen of Blue Earth, MN, Janice (Mason) Johnson of Scarville, IA, Sandra Weber of Granite Falls, MN; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sisters: Alice Wilaby of Mankato, MN, and Pauline Ray of Mankato, MN; along with many nieces, nephews, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Twila (2013), sons-in-law, Mike Gould and Scott Graves, and 10 siblings.
He is definitely in heaven fishing..he will be missed..I will think of him often when I cook fish for our residents ( I always made sure.there extra,he loves his fish..rip Jim.
