Robert Louis Krengel, age 78, of Mapleton, MN died Sunday, June 11, 2023 at the Mapleton Community Home. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church, Mapleton. Pastor Steve Berkeland officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Mapleton, MN. Memorials preferred to St. John Lutheran Church, Mapleton. Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells is entrusted with arrangements.
Robert Louis Krengel was the oldest of two sons born June 5, 1945 to Otto F.H. and Ethel M. (Jans) Krengel. Robert was baptized July 1, 1945 and confirmed in the Christian faith on June 14, 1959 at St. John Lutheran Church, Mapleton. He graduated from Mapleton High School in 1963. He served in the military from September 1964 to September 1970. After his military service, he returned home to farm. Robert farmed in rural Mapleton until his retirement. He enjoyed visiting and collecting and reading books.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald.
Bob will be missed. I loved visiting with him, hearing his stories and getting to know him. I was entrusted on several occasions to make a Crown Royal run for him. A little nip every night he used to tell me was good for a person. I will have fond memories of him always.
I enjoyed getting to know Bob while spending time at Heritage Place with my grandfather. He always inquired about how my husband’s farming was going. He took the time to get to know my family. Bob truly savored a homemade dessert! A kind man that will be missed.
