Lawrence “Larry” James Stenzel, age 74, of Minnesota Lake, MN died Friday, July 28, 2023 at Oaklawn Nursing Home in Mankato, MN.  A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells, MN with Fr. Greg Havel officiating.  Visitation with Larry’s family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home (1:00-2:00 pm).  Burial will be in St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Minnesota Lake following the service.  Nasinec Funeral Home is Wells is entrusted with arrangements.  Please see www.nasinecfh.com to leave condolences.

Larry was born May 28, 1949, the son of Leo J. and Mary A. (Lilla) Stenzel in Mankato, MN.  He graduated from Minnesota Lake High School, the class of 1967.  On July 19, 1969 he was united in marriage to Mary (McDonnell) in Mankato and to this union three children were born:  Lance, Erin, and Sarah.  The couple later divorced.

Larry worked his entire life in the construction trades – from drafting to carpentry to masonry.  Prior to his retirement, Larry was part owner of Stenzel Masonry with his brother.  As an avid outdoorsman, his favorite activities were hunting, cowboy shooting, and fishing.  He was also a skilled wood worker and furniture maker.  He loved nothing more than sharing these passions with those closest to him.  He was proud of his 27 years of sobriety and was an active member of the local AA fellowship.  Larry enjoyed good conversations and reminiscing with family and friends.  If you had time to visit, Larry had time for you too.  He loved his children and grandchildren and cherished his time with them.

He is survived by his three children:  Lance (wife Stacey) Stenzel of Mankato, MN, Erin Stenzel of North Mankato, MN, and Sarah (husband Scott) Wilson of Eagle Lake, MN; four grandchildren, Leah Stenzel (fiance Brandon Crow) of Herman, MN, Mason Stenzel of LaCrosse, WI, Max and Eve Wilson of Eagle Lake, MN; One brother Lon (wife Kris) Stenzel of Minnesota Lake, MN; one niece Melissa (husband Greg) Landsteiner of North Mankato, MN and their children; one nephew Luke Stenzel of Delavan, MN and his children.

Larry was proceeded in death by his parents.
