Helen Lorraine (Troska) Skov, age 87, passed away on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 in Albert Lea, MN. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 12th from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am Friday, September 13th with visitation an hour prior (10:00-11:00am) to the service at St. Casimir Catholic Church with Father Pratap Reddy Salibindla officiating. Burial will be at Carlston Cemetery in Carlston Township, Freeborn County.

Helen was born on the family farm, September 5th, 1937 to Andrew and Alice (Wanzek) Troska. She grew up in the Alden area, first attending St. Casimir’s Catholic School in Wells. Helen went on to graduate from Alden High School in 1955. Following graduation, she began working at the bank in Alden. On June 3rd, 1961 Helen was united in marriage to Arnold “Arnie” Skov at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church in Albert Lea, MN. Helen’s Catholic faith was very important to her. She was a long-time member of St. Casimir’s Catholic Church and a 60 year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Helen took a short leave from the bank from 1962-1970 to help her husband on the farm and to start a family. After her three children all began school, Helen returned to work at the bank in Alden. She enjoyed working with the community and after a total of 49 years at the bank, Helen retired. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling with family and friends.

In her free time Helen could be found enjoying time with family & friends, gardening, canning and baking. She was a member of the Alden Fire Department Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, volunteered at the local food shelf and spent time crocheting. Helen spent many hours cheering at the sporting events of her three children and nine grandchildren for many years. She looked forward to the annual Skov family vacation where she loved catching fish, taking pictures of sunsets and spending time with her family.

Helen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Arnold Skov, her three children: Janet (Faron) Bremseth, Ross (Kelly) Skov, and Anita (Charlie) Majerus, all of Alden, MN; nine grandchildren: Erin Bremseth, Matt (Patty Angel) Bremseth, Emily (Tyler) Stadheim, Anna (Josh) Sorensen, Karina (Matthew) Erickson, Adam Skov, Cameron, Blake, and Joshua Majerus; six great-grandchildren: Paytyn Angel and Coulter Bremseth, Everett and Phillip Stadheim, Max and Jack Sorensen, along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Alice Troska; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Wally Helland; mother- and father-in-law, Marie and Axel Skov; granddaughter, Nicole Majerus; and niece, Brenda (Helland) Lund.
