Marlin Molskness, age 88, of Blue Earth, MN passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth, MN. The funeral service will be Friday September 20, 2024 at 11:00am at United Lutheran Church in Frost, MN with Pastor Aaron Evenson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (10:00am-11:00am) on Friday, September 20th at the Church. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
Marlin was born April 4, 1936 in Seely Township to Gerhard and Edna (Heggen) Molskness. He attended and graduated Bricelyn High School in 1954 and went on to attend the University of Minnesota for 2 years before joining the U.S. Army and served in Germany for two years.
He lived in Minneapolis and worked for the grocery business and moved to Chicago, Illinois. He lived in Chicago for 24 years and continued in the grocery business. He went to the Moody Bible Institute and graduated in 1975 and served as a chaplain in Cook County Jail and Metropolitan Correctional Facility in Chicago. He taught a GED program with 440 plus graduates and moved to Bricelyn in April of 1997. In May of 1998 he became the Chaplain at Elmore Academy. He was a member at Frost United Lutheran Church, a Chaplin and Communion Minister for the United in Faith Parish and he was the Chaplain at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center for 15 years.
He enjoyed playing the accordion in area nursing homes and senior citizens groups.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Edna; brothers: Dr. Tilford; Gerald (Sandra); sister Judy Gutzmer.
He is survived by his daughter, Melody (Rob) Benjamin; granddaughters: Natalie and Hailey; siblings: Gene (Carolyn) Ronnie (Theresa), Jane Maronde; sister-in-law, Ellen and many nieces and nephews.
Sympathy at Marlin’s death. I first met him when my mom was at Nicollett Place in BE where he held Bible Studies and visited with residents. Later my mom moved to St. Luke’s where they once again connected. I also enjoyed visiting with him when ever we met. What a kind, thoughtful guy!
