
Melva R. (Dawson) Peterson, age 84 of Wells, MN died Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Bayside Manor in Gaylord, MN. A visitation will be Friday, June 13, 2025 from 4:00-7:00pm at Nasinec Funeral Home (789 Business Park Drive, Wells, MN 56097) and will resume one hour (10:00am-11:00am) prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at Nasinec Funeral Home on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00am. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells, MN.
Melva Rosalie Peterson was born April 9,1941 to William and Esther (Bauers) Dawson in New Richland. She graduated from New Richland High School in 1959 and never missed a class reunion. Melva was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Wells. She enjoyed going to family gatherings, singing, dancing and country music. She loved watching the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota Twins, Wheel of Fortune, Gun Smoke and Bonanza. You could frequently find her outdoors raking her lawn, putting her flowers out for the summer or just sitting out on the step. Melva never forgot to put her American Flag out. She also enjoyed being with her family, decorating for every holiday especially her favorite, Christmas. She collected Beanie Babies and has almost all of them.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Lorraine (Theodore) Stevermer and brother Dale Dawson.
Melva is survived by her children: Richard (Carla), Rhonda (Bruce), Ranae (Randy), Ryan (Amber), Mark, Vicki (Alfredo) and Brian (Krista); grandchildren: Jason and Jennifer, Ashley, Carl and Amanda, Jose, Samantha, Priscilla, and Deyzi; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Abigail, Philip, Stephen, Connor, Alam and one on the way; special friend Richard Davis of Albert Lea, MN; sister Delores Peterson of Albert Lea MN; sister-in-law Linda Dawson of the Twin Cities, MN; along with many nieces & nephews and their families.
