
Arnold “Arnie” Axel Skov, age 89, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-7:00 pm Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells, MN and will resume one hour prior (10-11:00 am) to the service on Friday at church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. Pastor Kristi Mitchell will be officiating, and burial will be in Carlston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Arnie’s family asks that memorials are sent to the Alden Fire Department Relief Association (P.O. Box 241, Alden, MN 56009).
Arnie was born August 15, 1936 at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, MN. Arnie grew up with his three older sisters on the family farm, where they only spoke Danish until the kids started school. He enjoyed helping his dad and riding on the tractor. He attended country school and graduated from Alden High School in 1954. After high school, Arnie attended Waldorf College and then enlisted in the United States Army.
On June 3, 1961, Arnie married Helen Troska at St. Theodore’s Church in Albert Lea. He was proud to talk about the life they shared for 63 years, and the kind of person Helen was. Arnie and Helen began their life together as dairy farmers. In 1970, they built a home in Alden where they raised their family and lived for 54 years. Arnie was employed by Steel and Grain Structures, Pride Builders, Hi-Yield and others, where he enjoyed working with the farming community. In retirement, Arnie drove school bus for many years for Hemmingsen’s Transfer.
Arnie was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden, MN. He enjoyed helping his community. He coached 4-H softball and Legion baseball. Arnie was a founding member of the Alden Lions and was a proud member of the Alden Fire Department for 23 years, serving as both Assistant Chief and Chief during his time.
Arnie spent his free time attending sporting events for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He looked forward to the annual Skov family vacation where he loved fishing and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed hunting and traveling with friends and family.
Arnie was preceded in death by his wife Helen Skov; parents Axel and Marie Skov; sisters and their spouses: Ingeborg (Lloyd) Reindal, Eunice (Howard) Johnsrud, Elna (Gerry) Pestorious and Esther in infancy; granddaughter Nicole Majerus; mother- and father-in-law Andrew and Alice Troska; and sister- and brother-in-law Margaret and Wally Helland.
Arnie is survived by his three children: Janet (Faron) Bremseth, Ross (Kelly) Skov, and Anita (Charlie) Majerus, all of Alden, MN; nine grandchildren: Erin Bremseth, Matt (Patty Angel) Bremseth, Emily (Tyler) Stadheim, Anna (Josh) Sorensen, Karina (Matthew) Erickson, Adam Skov, Cameron, Blake and Joshua Majerus; six great-grandchildren: Paytyn Angel and Coulter Bremseth, Everett and Phillip Stadheim, Max and Jack Sorensen; along with nieces, nephews and other relatives.
