Jo Ellen Clifton
February 22, 1940 – May 13, 2022
Jo Ellen Clifton of Bricelyn passed away on May 13, 2022 after a long battle with leukemia. Jo was a devoted wife, and a loving mother to her two children. She enjoyed knitting and playing the piano, and also played the clarinet in several community bands. She made friends wherever she went. She loved traveling and lived all over the United States and abroad, from Garden City Minnesota to Iowa, Illinois, Alabama, South Carolina, Nebraska, California, Oregon, Oklahoma and Guatemala. But Jo was known most for her kindness and generosity by everyone who had the privilege to have her in their lives. Her caring nature led her to a career in social work, where she dedicated herself to serving many people who were less fortunate. Jo’s joyful and loving personality shined through until the day she died.
Jo is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert Clifton, her son, John Foster, her daughter, Dulce Foster, her sister, Sue Hensley, her daughter-in-law, Karen Foster, her son-in-law, Joe Muretta, her grandchildren, Jacob, Lucas, Justin and Galen, and her nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Calvin, and her sister, Carla.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday June 11, 2022, at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Nasinec Funeral Home (9:00-10:00 AM).

My doesn’t sympathy to Jo”s family and close friends. I only knew Jo as an acquaintance but as you shared I found her to be a lovely lady. Again my sympathies..
She was truly beautiful from every aspect of her being. I thank God for the privilege of spending forty-seven years with her and her children. I thank both of you for being such great help in making her life fittingly beautiful too.
Jo was a lovely and interesting woman. She was an asset to the Bricelyn community and will be missed. Sympathies to Robert and her children and grandchildren.
Thinking of her at this time (June11), and remembering with great fondness her warmth, upbeat personality and sense of humor. Good times visiting the Quincy area years ago. Wishing all the current and past families close to her the best memories and hopes for the future…T. Welbourne
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Jo’s passing. We had been friends since we were quite young. Her father was the pastor of our church in Garden City, MN in the 1940’s. When the family moved on to Estherville, Iowa, Jo and I used to visit each other each summer. In later years, we have just communicated several times a year, but always were able to remember great memories of our earlier times together. She was a very sweet and loving lady. We send our sympathy to Robert and John and Dulce and their families and to sister, Sue Ann, also.
Sincerely, Susie & Ralph Farnsworth
