Scott J. Lorenz, age 66 died Friday, October 17, 2025 at his home after a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 10am in Wells at Nasinec Funeral Home. A visitation will be Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 4-7pm at Nasinec Funeral Home and will resume one hour prior (9-10am) at the funeral home. Pastor Jeff Phelps will officiate the service.
Scott Jeffery Lorenz was born October 31, 1958, to Forest and Angela (Bogenschutz) Lorenz in Albert Lea. Scott attended and graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1977 and went on to graduate from South Central College in 1979. He later went on to attend Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK from 1982- 1983.
He married Toni Lynn Jackson on August 22nd, 1987. He loved being a lifetime farmer. He took over the home place when it was his turn to do so, and with the help of his neighbors, they were able to plant, harvest and haul manure. He didn’t care what it was, they were doing it together. Being an umpire/referee was not only a source of income for him, but he absolutely enjoyed the other umpire/referees he worked with along with the students who were playing the game. He was also a bus/truck driver, driving brought him into contact with more people. He thoroughly enjoyed football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and hockey (all sports but especially Minnesota teams).
Family and friends were important to him; game nights, going on trips (especially to the beach), and riding his motorcycle were unique ways to spend time together. The last several years, it was more and more important to him to bring people to Jesus. He would pray for healing for someone he passed in the hallways at Mayo Clinic in Rochester when going from one appointment to another. He KNEW where he was going when it became obvious to him that God’s plan for his healing was not the plan he was anticipating for but he was determined to provide the opportunity of salvation to others.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Herman & Elizabeth (Steckelberg) Lorenz and Henry & Nina (Klingbeil) Bogenschutz and Nicholas Sandmaier; brother Bruce and infant brother Dennis Lorenz; sister-in-law Evelyn (Ewing) Lorenz; fathers-in-law: Richard Jackson and Michael Cotter.
Scott is survived by his wife Toni; children: Hannah (Seth) Ramaley, Katie Lorenz and Zachary Lorenz; grandchildren: Emeric, Saela & Reilynn Ramaley; brother James Lorenz; sister-in-law Sandy (Beckman) Lorenz; Brothers-in-law: Scott (Jeannie) Jackson, Ken (Judy) Jackson and Rick (Alice) Jackson; mother-in-law Beverly Jackson-Cotter; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

the picture says it all. I got to know Scott over the last 25 years. I sprayed his crops and fixed heaters for him. But my best memory of Scott was teasing him and Lee when they refed my grandsons games. I would always try to tell them they missed some calls…. I got the smile in his obit picture. MY sympathy to his family, I will miss him. Lynn Wasmoen
Toni I’m so sorry for your loss. Scott and I have known each other for a long time. Our whole lives. From little kids and our families getting together as we grew up as family friends and all the Rice Lake activities we did together. You maybe didn’t know Toni we even went on a vacation together before you guys were married. Then all the softball we played together and more softball. The times we did bible studies together. I call it a privilege to know Scott and call him my friend.
So sorry to hear of Scott’s passing. Called many games with him-enjoyed the many stories he had in the ref tent during game breaks. You will be missed.
My deepest condolences Toni.
I have known Scott all his life. He was a second cousin. When ever I was over visiting his brother Jim, he was always tagging along.
May God bless Scott’s family in this time sorrow. Scott is now rejoicing with his Saviour.
