Dwight Martin Weise was born on July 21, 1938, to Karl and Edna (Martin) Weise in Prescott Township. He grew up on the family farm, where he developed the strong work ethic and love for the land that would define much of his life. On August 23, 1958, he married LaFaye Wiederholt at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They remained married for almost 40 years and together they welcomed eight children. For Dwight, farming was more than a livelihood—it was a way of life. He farmed alongside his father before eventually establishing his own operation and expanding into field tiling, a profession he continued for more than 50 years. Even after retiring from farming, Dwight wasn’t one to sit still. He spent his later years driving for Prairie Lakes Transit, enjoying the people and purpose that came with the job. When he wasn’t working, Dwight found joy in simple pleasures. He loved watching the eagles that nested on his property, tinkering with anything mechanical, taking motorcycle rides through the countryside, attending Sturgis when he was able and fishing with his young grandsons.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Edna Weise; his children, Anna Weise and Immanuel Weise; his sister, Deanne Wallace; and brothers-in-law, Robert Jans and Sam Smith.
