Tim passed away on Saturday June 28, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Mankato. The funeral service will be held on Friday July 18, 2025 at 11:00am, there will be a visitation from 10-11:00am at Nasinec Funeral Home, 789 Business Park Drive, Wells, MN, 56097.

Timothy Donald Haskins was born October 29, 1955 to Donald and Alberta Haskins of Fairmont, Minnesota. Tim was very ill at birth. He went to live with his uncle and aunt Henry and Helen Fink and their son Doug. To him they were mom and dad.

Tim was married to Bonnie Haack of Fairmont; they later divorced. He went on to live with his life companion of 19 years, Jolene Gellert, until her passing. Tim held a variety of jobs, but at his last job he met his wife Dawn. Tim and Dawn married on a beautiful sunny September day at Prairie River Camp in rural Bricelyn. The first few years of marriage, they made their home in Bricelyn with Dawn’s three children, until they purchased their home in Kiester.

One of Tim’s greatest accomplishments was going to college in his mid-50s. He graduated from Riverland Community College with an associate’s degree in liberal arts. Tim loved racing, helping Devin at the tracks, with the cars, and garage sales. He collected NASCAR memorabilia and sports cards. He sang in musicals Fiddler on the Roof and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat. Many times, when he was sitting in congregation singing hymns, people turned around letting him know he was a good singer. Tim loved watching wrestling with Colby, especially the pay-per-views. But what he enjoyed most was saving pictures of the grandkids and showing them to everyone. He wanted to spend more time with them but due to dialysis and packing all his medical equipment that was difficult, so the pictures were his link to them.

Tim was one of the strongest people we knew, he overcame many health challenges and dialysis. In the end the thing that kept him alive for 17 years was the thing that tired his body the most. He learned to stand and walk with a prosthesis and loved our limb lab family. He had a witty sense of humor, and a knack for asking some “Here’s your sign” questions such as “Do I need to peel the eggs to make egg salad?” or “Is the back of Mt. Rushmore in Canada?” Our friends threatened to make a book of his “goofy quotes” calling it “Quotes by Kimmy” (she used an anonymous name so people wouldn’t know it was him.) He loved rescuing dogs with Dawn, and they were a foster fail twice with Dozer and Teddy. He had a special bond with Dozer and carried pictures of him even after he crossed the rainbow bridge.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Alberta Haskins; his aunt and uncle Henry and Helen Fink; his brother Doug Fink; parents-in-law Harold and Arlet Christensen; brothers-in-law: Dennis Woodwick, Paul Christensen, and Sylvan Diekmann; nephews: Jason and Jesse Johnson; and his beloved dogs Dozer and Teddy.

Tim is survived by his wife Dawn; stepchildren: Christopher (Samantha) Yost, Kayla (Jon) Price, and Colby Yost; siblings: Janet Diekmann and Jerome (Tammy) Haskins; sisters-in-law Deb Christensen, Sandy Fink, and Rhonda (Dennis) Johnson; grandchildren: Wyatt and Bennett Yost, Parker and Baby Price; honorary grandkids, who called him Papa Tim: Neveah and Abigail Anderson; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Harley.
