Alan Richard Hanson, age 52, passed away at his home in Bricelyn on Saturday, June 20th, 2026. A visitation will be Monday, June 29, 2026 at Nasinec Funeral Home in Wells, MN from 3:00-6:00pm with a memorial service following the visitation at 6:00pm.
Al was born January 11, 1974, in Robbinsdale, MN, to Richard and Sherry( Brand) Hanson. He was raised in Mound, MN with his older brother Ted. Al attended Mound Westonka high school where he participated in bowling and tennis. Traditional school was never a fit for Al, but he found his joy and passion in the kitchen. After attending North Hennepin Technical college for culinary arts, he enjoyed a career in the kitchen; where he made a friend in every kitchen he worked in. It didn’t matter if he was making a post-concert meal for Taylor Swift or meal for a group of golfers after a day of league play, he enjoyed every meal he made and every kitchen he worked in.
Al married Katie Klingbeil at North Blue Earth Lutheran Church in rural Bricelyn in 2007. Although they later separated, they were blessed with 3 daughters, Carissa, Elise and Madeleine. They made their home and welcomed their daughters while living in Robbinsdale, MN before relocating to Bricelyn in 2015. Having 3 daughters he spent more time talking about princesses, My Little Ponies and make-up than he ever imagined he would, but was also able to share his love of cooking, Star Wars and travel with them(even if that did mean going to Disney World 3 times).
Al was preceded in death by his parents Richard(2022) and Sherry (2019), his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Al is survived by his daughters: Carissa, Elise, Madeleine and the mother of his girls, Katie Hanson all of Bricelyn; His brother Ted Hanson of New Orleans, LA; Aunt and Uncle, Glen and Patty Brand of Robbinsdale, MN.
Oh Katie, girls & to Al’s entire family…..we are so very sorry for your loss! Our thoughts & prayers are with you all. May your memories bring you comfort & strength in the days ahead!
